Dr. Banno was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended Illinois Benedictine College where he majored in Biology and Biochemistry. Upon receiving his medical degree at the University of Illinois in Chicago, he began his surgical residency at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. His training continued in urology at the University of Chicago and at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Banno has been associated with Peoria Urological Associates since 1980 and is a Board-certified urologist. He is a Clinical Instructor of Urology at the U of I College of Medicine. His special interests include impotency, stone disease, and correction of prostate disease. Most recently, he has been involved with the development of the Sexual Health and Treatment Center, and is also involved in clinical research regarding hypothermia of the prostate. During the last few years, Dr. Banno has been involved in developing the world's first mobile ambulatory surgery center.
Dr. Banno is married and has six children. When time permits him and is avid cyclist. His other interests include aviation, skiing, tennis and hunting.
